The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
راهی كه نرفتم
رابرت فراست
دو جاده در درختزاری زرد از هم جدا میشدند،
و من متأسف از اينكه يك تن نتوان بود
و به هر دو راه رفت
زمانی دراز ايستادم و يكی را تا چشم كار میكرد
نگريستم
تا آنجا كه زير بوتهها میپيچيد؛
سپس راه ديگر را در پيش گرفتم كه به همان همواری بود
و شايد بهتر،
پوشيده از علف بود و پانخورده
هرچند رهگذران از هر دو تقريباً يكسان گذشته بودند،
و هر دو آن صبح پوشيده بودند از برگهايی
كه كسی بر آنها پا ننهاده بود.
آه، اولی را گذاشتم بماند برای روزی
ديگر!
گرچه میدانستم راهها ادامه دارند
و در ترديد بودم زمانی ديگر به آنجا بازگردم.
پس از ساليان دراز
جايی با آه خواهم گفت
دو جاده در درختزاری از هم جدا میشدند و من —
من آن را در پيش گرفتم كه كمتر پا خورده بود،
و همين يك دنيا تفاوت در پی داشته است.
